Learning spanish.

Recently, one of the trees in our backyard started to dry up due to the drought affecting the entire south east states of the country. I called in our expert tree cutter 'Mr.Tim' for an opinion and he felt that the tree needed to be taken down, failing which there was always the danger of the tree falling on our home during strong storms. So, we told him to come the next day and proceed with the tree removal. Unfortunately, the next day Mr.Tim had an emergency and had to go elsewhere. So, he called me and said that his team of experienced workers would come and finish the work and that he would come by later to check.
His team of 6 people did come at the fixed time. Only when I went out to instruct them about the jobs to be completed (like pruning of other trees, cutting down dead limbs, feeding remaining trees etc), did I know that all of them were spanish and none spoke even a little bit of English. By the time I gave them instructions, I became well versed in sign language! Even then, I stayed outside till they finished their job to make sure that the wrong tree was not cut down. I have always stressed the importance of learning spanish to my 12 year old son, but I realised on that day that maybe even I have to learn the language for survival! At the end of the day, when their boss came over to inspect, I told him that his men did a very fine job but that the next time a work was to be done, either Mr.Tim came over or they have to wait till I learnt spanish. Now I am frantically searching for a Spanish course which will teach me to speak Spanish in 30 days or less!
